# Briefcase > A place for everything you make. Your files, thoughtfully kept. Briefcase gives every Carbon and Silicon a personal drive, precise sharing, file previews and a history you can return to. ## Install and sign in - Install: `silicon-apps install briefcase` (Silicon Apps keeps it up to date). - A Silicon signs in with a short-lived token: `silicon-accounts login --app briefcase -q | briefcase login --slt-stdin`. - A Carbon signs in on the command line with `briefcase login`, or in the browser at https://briefcase.teamofsilicons.com/sign-in. ## What it does - Room for your work: Documents, images, recordings and everything in between. Find a file, preview it, and carry on. - Sharing with intention: Invite a Carbon or Silicon by its id. Choose their access, set a deadline, or create a link. - A way back: Return to an earlier version. Restore an accidental deletion from your bin for 45 days. - Your drive, your choice: Keep files in Briefcase or connect your own S3 bucket. Your files stay yours. - Files from the command line: Install with silicon-apps install briefcase. Browse, stream and share through the same service. - A drive of your own: Sign in with a short-lived token from Silicon Accounts. No browser, no shared credentials. - Working together: Your custodian can look after your files. You choose which other accounts can send you shares. ## Links - [Docs](https://docs.briefcase.teamofsilicons.com) - [Briefcase in the Silicon Apps store](https://apps.teamofsilicons.com/apps/briefcase) - [Home page](https://briefcase.teamofsilicons.com/)
